Bloom where you are planted

Green

May 1, 2022

I knew it would come! The green, it’s sprouting. The last time I was here, things were more like a muddled brown. I had to be patient. Today is May 1, and it is hard to not feel a little surge of optimism on this day. For most of us, there are more days of sunshine than clouds ahead and more chances for warmth tickling our faces.

Cancer still exists, and there are good days and bad. School is in session, but the end is so close. We have mothers to celebrate and trips to plan and pages to write and books to read and bikes to ride and flowers to plant. Harper and Jameson are counting down the days until their summer mom arrives, and truthfully, I am too.

As promised when I last wrote, I went looking for gratitude this past month. Today is a little smattering of what I found.

My daughter is beautiful. And fearless.
Grandma is reining a horse.
There are baby animals everywhere!
Art shows and smiles.
One special artist to celebrate.
Found selfies of cute boys.
Always the freckles.
So audacious for a gray day. I love these.
Pear tree.
I was waiting for you, green.
I have had a love affair with purple phlox for some time now.
Welcome to our neck of the woods, little one.
Spotting pink.
I wish you’d stay.
Sleeping puppies
And old dogs who come to visit us each week.
I love when these shelves come back to the Lowe’s parking lot.
Herbs for friends for May Day
Watching this dude play soccer
And this one kick around in the backyard.
Firing up the grill.
Love.

I knew I would find so much.

Happy May Day. I hope your hearts are filled with little bits of goodness today.
