Hello again.
Colorado gave us a long and very sincere winter. I didn’t mind it. I took a deep dive into the hygge part of my DNA. I did lots of reading, baking, and resting, but not a lot of writing here.
March 5 today. I can hardly believe it. Winter is not over; in fact, snow is forecast this week. But I know now that sunnier days are ahead. It’s time to re-energize and wake up again.
I love living where seasons change. It is good for my soul.
I am grateful that we are well. Harper and Jameson are busy schooling, karate-ing, horseback riding, and playing with friends. Jason and I are checking off the “long months” at school, getting in a little outdoor exercise when the Colorado sun allows, and planning our summer. Finn is cute, learning some things, and generally good – between eating socks and homework.
What I am looking forward to
This week, we will go see Harper’s last elementary school music performance. Thanks to Covid, she’s only had a couple. In April, we will see Jameson’s.
I love me a St. Patrick’s Day.
And in a couple of weeks, we steal away for a few days in Scottsdale. Hopefully, we can recharge a bit in the desert sun and have fun at a spring-training game.
What I am reminiscing about
The gifts this winter gave.
What I read recently and what’s in my book stack
Here are the last few books I enjoyed:
This book was beautifully written and really a pleasure to read. I did not realize that the muse of this story was a real person with a mysteriously tragic story.
This one was all romance and escapism. It was cozy and just happy to read.
This one was captivating- regardless of what you think of him. His life has been both privileged and deeply sad.
This book is pure fun and joy for a travel dreamer such as myself.
My current book stack looks like this:
What’s on the menu this week
This week’s temperatures are a mixed bag. Today, the sun is shining, and it is expected to reach 50 degrees. I am mixing up a batch of granola bars for the kids’ school week. This is my favorite recipe. They are soft and chewy. When the snow comes later this week, I will simmer a pot of this. On the busy night, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and when the temps come back up, sweet potato fries and grilled chicken.
What made me laugh this week
From our family to yours, may you find gratitude for the cozy a prolonged winter brings and hopeful joy for the spring to come.
