How can it be? Last week, the beautiful baby who made me a mama became an official teen. We celebrated Harper’s 13th in a sweet way. First, here’s the update on our new teen:
Favorite color: navy
Favorite food: grain bowls or sushi
Favorite part of the school day: math
Favorite TV show: The Gilmore Girls
Favorite movie: Togo
Favorite book: The Naturals series
Favorite item to wear: green athletic shorts and tank
When I grow up, I may be: a pediatric nurse
Vacation spot: Italy
Heroes: my family
What I like about myself: my nose, “I’m proud of of myself”
What I like to do: read, walk, run, watercolor, play volleyball, and bake
Anything else: “I’ve liked this past year. I have grounded myself. I feel more myself, more comfy inside. Also, I like fruit now! :)”
Harper wanted a teen theme this year, so we decked out the house the best we could to ring in thirteen. She chose to spend her morning on a hike with her mom (yay!), followed by a sushi lunch with her grandma (double yay!). In the evening, we hosted our usual family supper complete with stuffed peppers, salad, and the cutest white chocolate raspberry “buntinis.” It was a perfectly sweet day for one of my favorite people on earth.

You have always been, and always will be, our favorite girl. When you arrived, our hearts exploded with love! You have the best button nose, and your face is speckled with sun-kissed freckles. You love to be in the kitchen cooking, baking, and blending up smoothies, but you also love to run hurdles and pass around a volleyball circle. You like school and find comfort there. You laugh at your dad’s jokes and are always willing to be his helper with projects or crazy ideas. You have never liked loud noises, and you can live without fireworks or large crowds. You spend your quiet hours reading or making bracelets or painting. You are observant and wise, and you truly consider the world around you. You love your family completely, and we love you more than you could imagine. Welcome to thirteen!
