I am excited to talk books today! Do you keep track of the books you read? Back in the day BK (Before Kids) when I was loyally committed to a book club, I would keep track of each book in a small notebook and give each title a rating from 1 to 10*.
As life moved on with young kids, book club morphed into a once a month (unless the kids were sick, which was often) wine visit with friends as we compared notes about our babies’ development, yawned a few times, and promised that we really would read the book for the next month. Needless to say, I lost track of all the books I sort-of read during that time. We finally let book club go with the promise to pick it back up sometime down the road.
Though I still have some ways to travel on the Back to Book Club Commitment Road, I have finally gotten back to recording what I’ve read. Because of this, I can actually enjoy a book look from the year and share some of my favorites with you. What are your loved titles?
*I remember giving two 10’s – To Kill a Mockingbird (obviously) and The Red Tent
My book list is by no means up-to-date. Some titles are current and were published this year, but many were finally read after being on my bookshelf for a long while. I hope you will enjoy.
Favorite historical fiction: The Nightingale
Favorite thriller: The Woman in the Window
Favorite Thought-Provoker: Refugee
Favorite Humorous Read: Class Mom
Favorite Book of Essays: I Miss You When I Blink
Favorite Chick-Lit: One Day in December
Favorite Seasonal: Finding Christmas
Favorite Overall: Where the Crawdads Sing
And, so my fellow readers, I hope you are looking forward to a new year of reading and a new stack of books. I hope you are fondly recalling your favorite titles of the past year, and I hope you are sharing them with your best friends. Happy reading.
Read Beneath a Scarlet Sky! So good!
