Family Fun Mom Life

Finn River

November 22, 2022

Please allow me to introduce the newest Goldsberry: Finn.

I am innocent, Mom.
I might eat your toe, Mom.

Finn is a three month old Sheepadoodle puppy, a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Poodle.

After years of asking for a puppy, Jameson and Harper finally won. And so it was that Finn River came to be a Goldsberry one month ago.

Then name “Finn” just seemed to fit. Plus, we like its nod to Ireland. “River” is because he has a distinctive white stripe down his face that looks like a winding stream.

Finn as a wee one.

Here’s the good and the ugly of what we have learned so far.

Hello.

The Good:

Finn wags his tail often. He greets us happily, knows his people, and is cutely afraid of flocks of geese. He is so very soft but does not shed a bit. He sleeps through the night without waking, PRAISE HANDS, and likes his crate. He eats merrily, and I suppose he needs to, because he has giant paws to grow into. He currently weighs in at 22 pounds but will likely be three to four times that eventually. He loves to walk and has a darling black spot on his butt. And I have not yet had to clean up any stray poo.

Cute butt 1.
Cute butt 2.

The Ugly:

Finn must be a descendant of a shark. His teeth are wicked, and he likes to use them to grab anything. Anything at all. Like hands, fingers, feet, knees, clothes, slippers, and, occasionally, the right things like chew toys. He likes to act tough against squirrels and sometimes my children. To training we shall go. He does not like to be dressed up. His winter vest was too much. Take in this cute photo; there will be no more to follow.

I posed for my vest picture. But, let me be clear. I am finished with clothing.

I will keep you posted on this new life development. For now, please keep our Christmas tree in your thoughts. It is going up this Friday, but I am uncertain as to whether or not it will survive the chocolate brown eyes and fangs of Finn. Its glittering appeal and hanging orbs may just be too much.

Who, me?

Despite the ugly, Finn River will be on my thankful list this year.
