Bloom where you are planted

Gratitude

November 21, 2021

Happy Thanksgiving week, friends. I am getting a head start on my list.

This year, I am grateful for:

My house

Clean water

Dishwashers

Health

Little aches and flags from within that humble and remind me that I need to be mindful of self-care

The father of my children who is the whipped cream and sprinkles of their life

My daughter’s complexity, intrigue, and wit

My son’s empathy

My daughter’s freckles

My son’s laughter

My husband’s broad shoulders and his two, rather unexpected, tattoos

Vaccines

Texts and that I have people to message

Brick and mortar bookstores

Christmas decorations (important to note here that these are “not allowed” in our house until Friday, but I deeply love them)

Music

LEGOs

Rude comments, which remind me of what I do not want to be

Words of affirmation

Hugs

Uncomfortable undercurrents and thoughtful gestures from the same people, our respectful coexistence

Smart women

The internet

My dad’s calm

My sister-in-law’s genuine enthusiasm for learning and her academics

Bedtime

Appreciation for what I have already accomplished in my life

Possibility, the invitation to dream

Walks

My mom’s capacity for knowing what people need

This October in Colorado

Parents who live near

Grandparents who desire a leading role in my kids’ lives

High skies

My robe, my slippers, and when the best fitting underwear is clean

Cooking for others

Great grocery stores

My bike and Cody Rigsby

New friends

Old friends

Morning coffee

Chocolate chips

That my mom and dad got to check off a Bucket List item this fall

Snow

Unscheduled days

Intuition

Vacations

Fleece sheets

Handwritten notes

Country roads

Predawn

An invitation to a high school reunion

Being okay with saying no

Big ideas, gray areas, discourse, poetry

And also black and white lists and check marks for jobs well done

Still waters

To be a mom

Love and its daily gestures
