Family Fun Mom Life

Happy 12th Birthday, Harper!

June 12, 2024

Twelve years old … what? This beautiful human is officially a tween, with now less than 365 days before losing the w and becoming a full-fledged teen. Time is a thief, isn’t it? Harper has grown and matured and become an amazing young person. She is calm, watchful, thoughtful, and loyal, with a side of silly. She wakes up each morning ready for a little quiet time. She opens her curtains to let in the light, grabs her journal, and snuggles back in to her pillows. She is the only one in our family who makes her bed before anyone sees the whites of her eyes. This year, Harper tackled middle school, made some new friends, tried out hurdles in track and field, got invited to the National Junior Honor Society, played a lot with her brother and her puppy, swam in the Pacific, rode on the English tube, and painted her nails often. She is one neat girl, and I am proud to be her mama.

Here’s a glimpse of Harper lately:

There’s no one like Dad
There’s also no one like Jameson. This is the only picture I got of the two of them – blurry and fuzzy. Sigh.
Finn requested a picture, too.

Harper woke up to a white wonderland. Before long, she was off to her summer program for the day. I did get to drop off a special lunch for her, which made a studious day feel a bit more festive. Also, because she has never been in a “school environment” for her birthday, it was extra special when 80 other middle schoolers sang to her! When she came home, we loved on her with a delicious dinner (chicken parmesan caesar salad) and Grandma’s famous cheesecake for dessert. We hope she felt loved in the deepest way. Harper, you are beautiful in so many ways. May this year be even better than last. We love you.
