Happy 8th Birthday, Harper!

June 13, 2020

Love Her … mione. How can Harper be eight? This young lady is dynamic, smart, observant, thoughtful, loyal, creative, and sassy. She’s absolutely perfect for us. Harper loves tomboy clothes, riding her scooter, and playing soccer. She loves to paint and write, chop vegetables, make her bed, and leave notes for her family. She likes to hike and travel and wants to be on-the-go. She is remarkably responsible and could shop for groceries on her own if I needed her to. She loves ribs and broccoli, passes on the fruit unless it’s in a pie, and has fantastic freckles on top of a button nose. She is just neat.

And she happily settled in for a birthday interview this year. Without further ado, the newest eight-year old:

This year, Harper fell in love with Harry Potter. Who can blame her? Her big day was all Hogwarts-themed, and we had a blast.

My favorite part of the kiddos’ birthdays is the morning. Jason and I decorate late the night before in anticipation of a great surprise. When Harper awoke, she found a letter from Hogwarts under her door and “floating” candles in the hallway as she made her way to the Great Hall.

Hagrid’s hut and pumpkin patch was close by and made for a great spot for breakfast and tea.

We all got in on the day’s fun.

After a big day of magic, Harper said she wished she had Hermione’s time-turner so she could go back and do it all again.

Dearest Harper, happy birthday. I am profoundly grateful you were sorted into my family. You are special, wise, and endearing. You teach me and make me proud. You are loved.
