Well, summer has officially come to an end here. We feel so fortunate that we have the gift of summers together. I have new memories to smile upon, and a rested heart to move forward with.
Here are some highlights when looking back:
Now it’s time to look forward! It is the season of crayons and backpacks, new beginnings and new friends. I went back to work this week with my colleagues. The kiddos are enjoying a few more sweet days with Grandma and Grandpa before the school bell officially rings next week.
I am constantly reminded of the incredible good that surrounds education. There are great people in education. Our schools are powerful and wonderful places. I am so proud to be part of our public schools, and I am so proud that my children get to attend a great one down the street.
Our district kicked off back-to-school with a big celebration, at which our superintendent reminded us of the significance of public education. There is no “great economy” without it. There is no “powerful military” without it. There is no “reliable medical care” or “rocketing home values” without it. He left us to reflect on this quote:
And that even on the hardest of days, teachers have done something good. Probably, many good things.
Then we got back into the classroom. This year, I started from scratch in a new room. I am coming out from under the boxes and am excited to tackle a new year ahead.
More school to come. Sharpen your pencils and check back again soon!
