The Wisdom of Fathers

June 19, 2022

Happy Father’s Day to the dads and dad figures who make our lives so beautiful. I hope you spend today doing something you love, with the people you love.

This year is bittersweet. There are not too many words to share. But I do have a few, in recognition of the fathers in my life, who I happen to think are deeply wise.

To Jerry, who we will miss every day, especially this day, hereafter:

Your wisdom lied within your ability to appreciate the simple things in life. You found contentedness in every day moments and never wanted more than what you had. Thank you for showing this to us.

To Dad, who I am profoundly grateful to have so close:

Your wisdom is worldly and insightful. You know what is right and true before we do, and you guide us with gentle words and loving gestures. You are calm and humble within your wisdom. Thank you for your comforting presence.

And of course, to Jason, who I could picture holding my babies long before babies were in our plan:

Your wisdom is of the heart. You are the constant caretaker of our children’s joy. Your fatherhood is genuine and deep, and you are as loyal to it as water to roots. You are a gift of a dad and Harper and Jameson’s north star.

Happiest Father’s Day.
