Hello, friends. The last time I was here, the ground was frozen, and we were all wearing fuzzy socks. Since then, I have climbed out of the abyss that was the 2023-2024 school year. I am proud to be standing back on higher ground, albeit a little tired and frazzled. But, I made it. Summer is knocking on the door, and I am ready to welcome it in.
Fortunately, Jason, Harper, Jameson, and Finn fared well this year. Jason tied a bow on his 19th year of teaching, successfully made it through another class of kindergartners, and had fun with a new trick shot unit inspired by Dude Perfect. Harper found her stride as a middle schooler. I cannot express how proud this mama of her. She connected with her teachers, made a couple of new good friends, achieved in her classes, and tried new things. Jameson finished 4th grade with his group of best buddies, sweet memories of his teacher, and a real excitement for next year as a top dog in school. Finn chewed through approximately 1,241 toys this year but never peed, escaped, or destroyed anything, phew! He is happy his people are back.
We are in the clunky transition days now … reworking our routine, trying to sleep in (not happening yet), insisting we should rest but making project lists, visiting the dentist, and making more lists.
But, I am taking deeper breaths in between the lists, and sitting in the sunshine, and walking the dog, and making book stacks, and planning.
See you back here soon to celebrate a couple of special birthdays. Happy summer to you.
